CREDITS © Wang Yuqi Scent of a woman http://www.yuqiwangart.us © All rights reserved Wang Yuqi (1958) is from Hebei. From 1977-1979, he worked in the Hebei Provincial Art Department. He started his training as a professional blockprinter at the Drawing Department of the Tianjin Art Academy in 1979, and graduated in 1983. After a few years of teaching, he enrolled in a refresher course in the Oil Painting Department of the Central Art Academy (1985-1987). He now teaches at the Tianjin Art Academy. Wang Yuqi is included in the Art Renewal Center selection of Living Masters(tm) and has won Grand Prizes from the Portrait Society of America, the American Society of Portrait Artists, and MOMA in NY. His work is on display in China National Gallery, the private collection of the Royal Family of Japan, and private collections in the US. "The world I reveal," says Mr. Wang of his art, "is a blend of both the ‘Occident’ and the ‘Orient’; my passion for both Classic European portraiture and the Pre-Raphaelite movement is gently kissed by my Chinese heritage." Wang's painting demonstrations are intended primarily for currently enrolled students at Academy of Realist Art, Toronto's only ARC-accredited academic fine art school.
