About the Art: Ron DiScenza was born in Ohio in
1954, and began drawing at the early age of three.
He attended the School of Visual Arts in New York
where he received a Bachelor degree in Fine Art.
Upon graduation, Ron taught undergraduate courses
in illustration, making him one of the youngest
instructors at that time. Ron later illustrated
for every major publisher from Bantam Books to
Time Magazine. He also worked for Tiffany and
Company designing corporate gift items and objects
of art. In 1978 he was commissioned to paint for
the Italian film director, Ermanno Olmi. The
painting later was used as the movie poster for
the N.Y. debut of his film “The tree of the wooden
clogs”. (L'albero degli zoccoli) In 1995 Ron made
a major life change. While vacationing in Italy,
in the hometown of his parents, he made the
decision to remain and paint. Today he lives in
the picturesque province of Molise with his wife
and two-year-old son. Ron's paintings are
recognized by his fascination with sunlight and
the way he beautifully illuminates his subjects.
His commissioned painting of “N'docciata” is
currently displayed in the Papal residency
